One way that you might use a blog with a class would be to serialize a reading. This is possible if the work is in the public domain or has a creative commons license that allows you to adapt it.
For a couple of examples of what I am talking about, look at Dracula and George Orwell’s Diaries.
Or you could take something you are reading and have students blog as one of the characters. That could work in a history class as well as a literature class.
The possibiities for using blogs with our students is really only limited by our imaginations, I think. I would be interested in hearing any ideas you might have about this.
